Based in Michigan, Leonard Syrups manufactures and distributes craft sodas, juices, and beverage systems throughout the state. We spoke with Jonathan Holms, Branch Manager at Leonard Syrups’ Grand Rapids location, who oversees operations and installation services. Q&A with Jonathan, Branch Manager at Leonard Syrups
Q: What does Leonard Syrups do?
A: We manufacture bag-in-box craft sodas under the Detroit City Soda brand, along with juices, slushes, frozen carbonated beverages, and cocktail mixes. We also install and service draft systems, soda systems, bulk CO2 systems, ice machines, and CO2 monitoring systems. In addition, we deliver bulk CO2, cylinders, and our beverages throughout Michigan to restaurants, bars, breweries, and c-stores.
Q: What challenges have your clients faced with CO2 compliance?
A: The most common challenge is that customers often aren’t aware that the National Fire Code requires CO2 monitoring, sensors, or alarms when storing more than 100 pounds of CO2. Helping them understand and stay compliant has become an important part of what we do.
Q: Cyl-Tec distributes Aerosphere equipment. Has this made the process easier on your end?
A: I’ve always ordered through Cyl-Tec, and that consistency makes things simple. I don’t know if the process would be easier another way, but it just works well for us.
Q: How has working with Cyl-Tec been beneficial to you?
A: Cyl-Tec has been consistent and reliable. It makes my job easier when you have a supplier that goes above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. Their support has been excellent.
